Cat-back exhaust system with valves for Mercedes SL500 (type R231, from 2012), consisting of a non-silenced centre pipe and rear silencers with valves, entirely in heat-resistant, polished 1.4828 (T309) stainless steel. It gives the car an extremely powerful sound. The connections are compatible with the original Mercedes pipes.

With the CES-3 control unit the system is freely programmable and controlled according to back pressure: you set the back pressure you want to drive with, so as to obtain the maximum available power and eliminate the share of back pressure that costs power. Most valved exhausts open their valves according to speed or revs, but the engine is affected by back pressure, which increases with revs. The control unit has control LEDs and an RDS transmitter that sends values and functions to the car radio display, and it is adjusted with the key fob remote controls. The Capristo-Control-Center software is supplied, in German, Italian and English, with which you can view all values and make all settings. Three modes: Cruise (the valves open later), Sport (the valves open earlier) and Open (valves always open). In Cruise and Sport you set the valve opening threshold, and you can choose the mode in which the car starts. The control unit recognises the driving style: if you accelerate aggressively it detects the back pressure building up and opens the valves immediately, while with moderate driving it opens them later. The CES-3 also measures GPS and acceleration data (g-force), some of which can already be read with the software, and from version 3.020 it can show the dealer's name on the radio display; the device is under continuous development and software updates can be downloaded from the Capristo download area.

Capristo recommends not revving the engine with the car standing still: the flames from the exhaust can cause damage to nearby property and people.
