In its seventh generation, built on the MQB platform, the Golf GTI adopted the EA888 2.0 TSI: 220 PS, or 230 PS with the Performance pack, which also adds bigger brakes and the VAQ front limited-slip differential. The 7.5 facelift of late 2016 raised outputs to 230 and 245 PS, and in 2019 came the 290 PS GTI TCR, inspired by touring-car racing.
For the Volkswagen Golf GTI/TCR (MK7/MK7.5) 2.0 TSI (2013-2020), Armytrix offers the cat-back system with Valvetronic silencers and downpipes. Tips are available in chrome silver, blue coated, matte black, carbon and gold. Versions without a catalyst are for track use only.
Armytrix builds its exhausts in Taiwan, in T304 stainless steel and titanium, and is one of the brands that made valved exhausts affordable: the valve sends the gases through the silencer or around it, and it is controlled with the supplied remote or a smartphone app through a module plugged into the OBD port. Armytrix exhausts are not road approved in the European Union or Switzerland: they are intended for track use.
