The second-generation R8, unveiled in Geneva in 2015, shares its technical basis with the Lamborghini Huracán, with a body structure combining aluminium and carbon fibre. The naturally aspirated 5.2 FSI V10 came in V10 and sharper V10 plus form, always with the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch: a manual gearbox was no longer offered.

Armytrix builds its exhausts in Taiwan, in T304 stainless steel and titanium, and is one of the brands that made valved exhausts affordable: the valve sends the gases through the silencer or around it, and it is controlled with the supplied remote or a smartphone app through a module plugged into the OBD port. Armytrix exhausts are not road approved in the European Union or Switzerland: they are intended for track use.
