The M135i was the first M Performance model in the 1 Series: from 2012 the five-door F20 and three-door F21 hatchbacks got the N55 3.0-litre turbo straight-six with 320 PS, driving the rear wheels or, from 2013, all four through xDrive. An unusual recipe for a hatchback, replaced by the M140i in 2016.
For the BMW M135i (F20/F21) N55 (2012-2015), Armytrix offers downpipes. Versions without a catalyst are for track use only.
Armytrix builds its exhausts in Taiwan, in T304 stainless steel and titanium, and is one of the brands that made valved exhausts affordable: the valve sends the gases through the silencer or around it, and it is controlled with the supplied remote or a smartphone app through a module plugged into the OBD port. Armytrix exhausts are not road approved in the European Union or Switzerland: they are intended for track use.
